Stillwell Showcase Home 2008

We started working on the design of this project in September of 2006 and were met with many challenges. The homeowner was retired and had some great ideas as to how to make the house accessible for her in her later years and also provide room for the ample company that she has during the summer time. Her daughter, who lives out of town, makes weekly trips to her mom's and wanted an extra living space for her and her guests.

After several design sketches and multiple engineering challenges later, a design that provided an additional 1500 square feet and a complete rework of the existing living space began. We had a tight budget; so several items were removed from the existing plan. One cost savings was to remove, refinish and reinstall the original kitchen cabinets verses buying new cabinets.

When the project was completed, we had added a lower level addition that is a complete living unit for her daughter with bedroom, bath and kitchen. The full master suite was expanded to add space to the bedroom and create room for a large completely accessible bath with roll in shower and beautiful cabinets and closet space. The living room, kitchen, dining and sunroom spaces were expanded with large windows facing the lake. Large decks were added for outdoor activities complete with glass railing composite decking. Two beautiful gas fireplaces were added along with complete updating to electrical and mechanical systems along with new windows, new exterior siding and roof.

This project was just what the homeowner needed to accommodate guests and provide comfort and accessibility for her many years to come.
